Get started with PPWR

If you are the manufacturer and need to comply with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), you must assess your packaging, prepare technical documentation, and issue an EU Declaration of Conformity (EU DoC) before placing the packaging or packaged product on the EU market. This guide shows you the full workflow in ProductIP and where to start. It helps you move from the initial setup to a structured packaging technical file that supports the PPWR conformity assessment.

When to use this

Use this guide if:

  • you need to comply with PPWR (for the first time)
  • you want to structure your packaging compliance in ProductIP
  • you are the manufacturer and need to prepare technical documentation and an EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) for packaging

FAQ

  • What are our responsibilities in this process?
Your responsibilities include creating the technical file, reviewing the evidence, linking documents to the applicable requirements, and issuing the EU Declaration of Conformity (EU DoC).

Alternatively, you can outsource these activities through the FAST service. With FAST, ProductIP acts as your compliance expert secretariat. ProductIP contacts and follows up with your suppliers, reviews the submitted documents, and links them to the relevant requirements.

The final conformity assessment and the issuance of the EU DoC remain your responsibility as the responsible economic operator.
